Initial Ideas

We originally looked at the Pop genre to start with. However later decided that we wanted to choose something slightly different and more unique. We thought about different artists, bands and videos that inspire us and researched all the different styles. We collectively came to a decision that we really like the Indie Pop genre. A few of the many artists and bands we looked into are:

Tom Odell, The 1975, The XX, James Bay, Bastille, Birdy, etc.

We really liked the music videos we looked at and the uniqueness of them. We looked at a few videos to start with that really inspired us. Below are some of the few.

Robbers- The 1975.

We liked the uniqueness of this video and the fact that it follows a storyline. It is a very interesting way to convey the message of the song as well as giving the audience an idea of what The 1975 are like.

Tom Odell- Hold Me.

We liked this video a lot as it showed us as the audience what to expect if we saw Tom Odell live. It created a lot of atmosphere and was full of energy. It really allowed us to feel up close and personal with the artist himself.

London Grammar- Strong.

This video really inspired us because it is has a more serious message behind it. We like the way that the intention of the video seems to be artistic integrity. The visuals are very unique and beautiful throughout.

James Bay- Let It Go.

We liked this video as it is very basic and focuses heavily on James. The video is simple yet very effective. It works in a way that conveys the heartfelt nature of the song. The video highlights James' isolation and loneliness in such simple yet clever ways.

These videos really inspired us and gave us a good idea and foundation to work from when researching our genre.

Group Members

My group for this year will consist of Dan Brewer and Sophie Honor. I have chosen to be in this group for the following reasons:

Sophie has a lot of experience with directing, camera work and editing, doing most of this in our AS project as well as editing several sequences outside of this subject. She is also very good at written tasks, making her an asset.

Dan is currently studying IT at A level, having a wide range of knowledge in this area, making him experienced in technology. He has also completed tasks involving camera work and editing in the past, so he has a lot to offer in terms of the technological aspect of our project.

I am very creative and thoroughly enjoyed making the movie poster for last year's (AS) task. I will therefore be able to make all of the posters, album covers, digipaks and coming up with original ideas, interesting yet suitable for the group. I also have experience in editing in and outside of school. On that account, I can help the other group members in our editing for our final project.
